Is this a better backing band than Crazy Horse ?
We still love you, we still need you, now you're 64

Totally agree with you there BD.
I saw Neil Young and the Restless at the Eureka Muni. Aud. in '88 and im still rockin from it.
Acoustic set with banjo, harp, piano was areal treat.
Electric set was hard, ragged, and glorious.
Mighty glad hes still with us.

Re: Happy Birthday Neil Young |
Up here in the Toronto area, we always considered Neil as our hometown boy and the annual pilgrimage to see him was only interrupted by wives and other real life nuisances. He is to Southern Ontario what the Dead was to the Bay area.
I have seen him countless times at various local venues, my favourite gig was at the old Maple Leaf Gardens in the early 90's (1993?)with Sonic Youth opening.
Happy Birthday Neil and many more.

Nice way to spend VD. Damn, more than 18yrs already....
I recall Ragged Glory tour when opened with blowin' in the wind and the stagehands raising big mic with yellow ribbon in nod to famous iwo jima flag raising. a thousand points of light ....

Re: Happy Birthday Neil Young |
Yesterday morning, hung over and hungup, I peeled the wrapping off an album my brother bought for me last Christmas! NY live at Canterbury House 1968. Later in the day, from you good people I find it is his birthday.
Ain't seen him live for a while. Sold out tickets while I'm counting my change. He seems to like 'Old Black', his Les Paul, but I dig when he's using his Gretsch White Falcon. Many people dislike the Trans album. I like it. Saw Neil perform all that stuff one night in Bordeaux. Computer Age.
God Bless Him and you people.

Re: Happy Birthday Neil Young |
Trans was a great tour - especially when did that and alternated with shocking pink stuff. From computer/vocoder for Mr Soul to rockabilly in the course of 15 mintues. Gotta love Neil - he's a true punk. The king is gone, but not forgotten....

I don't really know, but Neil always keeps me guessing. Shocking Pinks cool. He can get in the groove. Are You Passionate? Ragged Glory has taken my head to the outer stratosphere.
